Location: Lovell, Wyoming

Description: State of Wyoming is at present looking to employ Fish Culture Specialist right now, this career will be delegated in Wyoming. Under supervision, carries out a variety of tasks in the propagation and stocking of fish in streams and lakes, and in the maintenance of equipment, and buildings and grounds. Participates in the work rotation to monitor the fish culture facility seven days a week.

  • Under supervision, carries out a variety of tasks in the propagation and stocking of fish in streams and lakes, and in the maintenance of equipment, and buildings and grounds.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Preference may be given to those with any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in fisheries, wildlife management, biology, zoology, ichthyology or closely related field.

**Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible to obtain a Commercial Driver's License

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of principles, concepts and practices of fish propagation and management; knowledge of animal biological processes and behaviors.
  • Skills in oral and written communications, computers and computer software.
  • Skills in light maintenance of small engines and lawn equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment and vehicles (standard transmissions), to lift heavy loads exceeding 50 pounds, and work in adverse weather conditions under prolonged outdoor activities.
  • Ability to respond to facility requirements at any time, day or night.
  • On-site housing is provided as a condition of work.

NOTES:
  • FLSA: Non-exempt
  • All new hires or rehires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018 are required to be paid hourly.
  • Position is a twelve (12) month contract (At-Will Employee Contract) at Tillett Rearing Station (north of Lovell, near the Big Horn Canyon National Recreational Area).
