As a Geotechnical Project Manager I with Terracon you will supervise and perform geotechnical exploration and analyses, formulate laboratory or field investigations, evaluate respective data, and prepare proposals/reports.
General Responsibilities:
As a fully competent professional, applies the principles and practices of geotechnical engineering to a broad array o! f assignments. Makes independent decisions on problems and methods. Performs as a fully-qualified professional proficient in the use and application of principles, theories, practices and company standards in their discipline. May devise new approaches to problems encountered. Assignments may involve application of computer software, including spreadsheets, CAD, as well as computer modeling. In some cases, directs the ongoing technical policies/procedures for carrying out daily responsibilities of work assignments on clientsâ projects. Supervision of less experienced engineers and technical support personnel is exercised on a routine basis.
Essential Functions and Duties:

- Acts as consultant on projects requiring complex and innovative investigation

- Continually reviews the projectâs progress and evaluates technical data received from project staff for implementation into design analyses and written recommendations.
- Under ! the direction of department management, prepares staffing requirements, schedules and other required project data, including preparing fee proposals.
- Completes the project records at the close of the project, documents the required closeout data, organizes the project records and turns them over to the office administrator.
- Provides timely project administration for the company to include time sheets, expense reports, purchase orders, change orders, invoices and any other progress reports necessary to keep the company, the client and the clientâs representatives informed of the status of the project.
- Prepares invoice to client for review by manager.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
- A demonstrated ability to assist the department manager and technical consultants with the establishment of major segments of the scope of a project, including an outline of tasks, staffing and ! equipment requirements, establish fees, scope and project budgets and o! utline a project schedule.
- A demonstrated ability to administer all projects general and technical data and reports and to effectively communicate orally and in writing to all parties involved.
- The incumbent must be fully competent in conventional aspects of geotechnical engineering and be capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Ability to prepare written reports and perform calculations using Microsoft Office.
- Ability to make edits to drawings using AutoCad.
MS degree with at least 6 years of demonstrated consulting experience in geotechnical engineering, or
Bachelorâs degree with at least 8 years of demonstrated experience in geotechnical engineering.
License/Registration:
Valid driverâs l! icense
A professional engineer registration (not necessarily a Wyoming license) is required.
