Position Title: Lifeguard
I
Depar! tment: Aquatics
Qualifications: ARC Lifeguard certification
(REQUIRED), ARC CPR/AED (REQUIRED), and ARC first aid certifications
(REQUIRED). Minimum Age 16.
Job Relationships
Reports to: Aquatics Director, Assistant Aquatics
Director, Shift Lead Aquatics Center
Supervises: None
Interrelationships: Patrons, co-workers, District
employees, and students.
Position Purpose/General Summary
Provide all users of the Aquatics Center with a
safe, clean, and fun experience through direct patron surveillance, emergency
response, routine cleaning and maintenance, and professional interactions.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities
Maintain a positive attitude
that supports the District Mission Statement
Accept responsibility for
the job description and continually strive to perform work of the highest
quality.
Responsible
to! adhering District policies.
Maintain
safety in the po! ols, classrooms, offices, and locker rooms.
Demonstrate
thorough knowledge of Center rules and willingness/ability to enforce as
necessary.
Ensures
that the pools, exercise equipment, and emergency equipment is maintained
and organized.
Perform
routine safety checks of the Center.
Perform
patron surveillance and emergency response as necessary, per training.
Complete
all required documentation.
Perform
routine cleaning and maintenance duties.
Ensure
cleanliness and safety of all Center facilities and equipment.
Participate
in all in-service and on-going trainings conducted at the Center.
Work
all assigned shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as
required.
Maintain
validity of all required certifications.
Other
duties as assigned.
Physical
Demands:
Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a
regular basis.
Ability to work continually
stan! ding, walking, bending, and/or in the water.
Ability to kneel or squat
during the performance of duties.
Ability to stay calm during
lifesaving events.
Mentally alert and aware
with sound judgment.
Demonstrate proficiency in
verbal and non-verbal communications.
Ability to recognize and
respond to emergency situations.
Environmental
Demands:
Ability
to cope with sounds associated with an aquatics environment.
Ability
to cope with fumes and/or odors associated with an aquatic environment.
Ability
to tolerate heat and humidity, as well as other environmental irritants.
