It is the responsibility of the Drafter to produce quality drawings free of error and complying with industry and company standards to the best of his ability, and maintain the companyâs high quality and standards.
General Duties in regards to the Drafting Department
The Drafterâs chief duty shall be to produce quality drawings and bill of material in a timely manner and to assure that they are accurate.
The Drafter will be called upon to design drawings based on: Data sheets, calculation sheets, piping plans from specification ! sheets, sketches produced by hand. He will arrange equipment o! n skids to maximize space and allow access to controls, and produce corresponding piping and instrumentation drawings from engineering sketches.
As a member of the Engineering Department, the Drafter will be asked to attend specific meetings (weekly drawing meeting) and training sessions. He will make every effort to attend these meetings.
The Drafter will be required to have a good working knowledge of SolidWorks and Cadworx .
The Drafter will continue to increase his knowledge of the ASME Code, the drawing standards, industry standards, and acquire a general knowledge of how the equipment the company manufactures operates.
General Drafter Duties (Including but not limited to) Teach other staff members how to use drafting programs Layout and drawing of equipment drawings Drafting of piping plans and isometrics Develop material lists Develop nameplate data Run blueprints Develop the necessary details to simplify the fabrication and assembly process Revise an! d incorporate new design standards into existing equipment drawings Determine equipment weights, capacities and surface areas Prepare P&IDâs Prepare equipment layout drawings Continue to upgrade personal skills with drafting tools and stay current with the companyâs latest release Understand work related to our industry in the fields of ASME code vessels, structural steel, piping, and instrumentation
Knowledge and Skills
Good written and verbal communication skills. Accuracy and attention to detail is required. Must have extensive computer application knowledge.
