This position is responsible for the fabrication and assembly of various metal parts per company drawings/specifications using AWSD 1.1 approved and qualified weld! ing procedure specifications. Duties include the use and maintenance of related shop equipment for welding, production, and product movement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret company drawings and specifications
- Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler
- Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment
- Cuts materials, using powered saws, hand shears, acetylene torches or chipping knife ⢠Responsible for non-code structural welding, such as channel frames, skids, joint fittings, drum frames, and utility boxes
- Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances and performs non-destructive visual inspection of finished welds
- Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper
- Welds components in fl! at, vertical, or overhead positions
- Heats, forms, and! dresses metal parts, including aluminum, carbon and stainless steel, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment
- Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc ⢠Observe and follow all company safety rules and regulations

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed above. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a code welder is required.

- A minimum of six months in a vocational/technical training program is! preferred.
Some limited proficiency with a personal computer and common applicable functions/programs is preferred
Other Skills, Abilities or preferred Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of metal fabrications or other structures
- Basic knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
- Skilled in all operational aspects of SMAW welding
- Valid Drivers' License
- Forklift Certification or the ability to obtain one
While performing the duties of ! this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands ! to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
