Duties include responsibility for safely and efficiently performing welds of varying degrees on all types of surface coal mining equipment. All work ! will be performed in compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements to keep the equipment at an acceptable availability and reliability for the mine to meet its budgeted goals in safety, cost, productivity and environmental commitments.
Requirements for this position include:
A high school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess five years journeyman experience and be certified in both stick and wire welding as follows: SMAW, single electrode (LH-70), Vertical-up and overhead-one direction, 1" plate (qualification range = 1/8" to unlimited thickness, Spec. AWS A5.1, Visual Inspection (5.12.6 or 5.12.7 and Guided Bend Test (5.28.1/5.29.1); FCAW, single electrode (E 71T1, 1/16" Lincoln Outershield-71), Vertical-up and Overhead-one direction, 1" plate (qualification range = 1/8" unlimited thickness), Spec AWS A5.20, Visual Inspection (5.12.6 or 5.12.7) and Guided Bend Test (5.28.1/5.29.1) Both stick an! d wire certifications are prepared, welded and tested in accor! dance with the requirements of Section 5, Part C or C of ANSI/AWS D1.1 (92) Structural Welding Code.
Must successfully pass a written test and practical test.
(We will consider candidates with less than one year of mining experience; classification would be at welder trainee level.)

This position requires a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job. The screening will assess only the identified physical demands of the job being applied for.
