DUTIES:
The duties of the Operating Room (OR)/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACUI)/Endoscopy (Endo) Registered Nurse are as follows:

OR RN is accountable w! hen assigned for the episode of care related to the Surgical/Invasive procedures;

PACU RN provides pre-surgical preparation and post-anethesia recovery for most surgical procedures including both inpatient and outpatient recovery;

Endo RN is proficient in the admission and recovery process for patients receiving anesthesia or sedation for endoscopic procedures;

The trained OR/PACU/Endo RN will provide staffing coverage for all areas and surgical clinics under the Surgical Service Line as needed.

TOUR OF DUTY:
Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Call will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. Citizenship.

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Acc! rediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Edu! cation (CCNE).

Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Applicants must possess one of the following degrees in nursing to be considered for this position: Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing; or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; or enrolled in a Bridge or Master's Entry Program to Nursing (MEPN) program, AND have received a certificate of professional nursing to sit for the National Certification Licensing Examination (NCLEX) and can submit this certification to the Department of Veterans Affairs; or Master's Degree in Nursing; or Doctoral Degree in Nursing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess mental and emotional stability. Functional requirements include the following abilities: Heavy lifting of 45 pounds or over, light carrying of under 15 pounds. The use of fingers on both hands is required, as well as walking, standing and sitting during an eight hour tour of duty. Must possess the ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, correctable vision and able to wear eye protection. The ability to distinguish shades of color, hear the whispered voice (aid permitted). Environmental Factors required: Working with hands in gloves, working closely with others and protracted or irregular hours of work.
