The Department of Veterinary Sciences at the University of Wyoming seeks a Wyoming Exce! llence Chair in Disease Ecology at the advanced Associate Professor or Full Professor rank. We seek a candidate with disciplinary expertise related to one of the University's areas of strength in life sciences, including infectious disease, ecology, microbiology, and neurosciences, with emphasis on teaching and research of diseases shared by domestic animals and wildlife, including zoonotic diseases.

Teaching responsibilities will include developing courses and contributing to existing courses within interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate education programs, including the Program in Ecology, the Wildlife/Livestock Disease Center, the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, the Biomedical Sciences and Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences graduate groups, the WWAMI Medical Education Program, and others as appropriate. Maintaining an established, active, extramurally funded research program with a proven track record of applying state of the art scient! ific and analytical methodologies to disease problems is requi! red.

Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. degree with a proven track record of nationally or internationally recognized faculty-level research focusing on relevant animal diseases. Preferred qualifications include a medical degree (DVM preferred, MD considered), research experience with zoonotic diseases, teaching expertise at the undergraduate and graduate level, and experience mentoring graduate students.

The land grant University of Wyoming is the only four-year university in the state. Based in the small city of Laramie, population approximately 30,000, the university is located in rural southern Wyoming, close to excellent outdoor activities in the nearby Snowy and Laramie Ranges and near cultural and other amenities along the Front Range of Colorado.
