Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible to identify, evaluate, and provide therapy to students identified with speech and/or language deficits in order to support all involved staff and the students so they can obtain maximum benefit from their educational program. The SLP should be flexible, self-motivated, and a team player. This position shall serve as a school resource for staff and parents with regards to speech/language and assists and guide teachers in observing, documenting, and referring students with suspected speech and/or language impairments. It is expected that he/she shall identify and administer appropriate formal and informal assessment instruments needed in diagnosing speech, language, fluency, etc., impairments and administers all screening in speech/language area to determine whether or not further assessment is needed. The SLP should be expected to provide appropriate therapeutic activities to meet the individualsâ needs in the remediation of existing impairments and select and/or designs materials that match the student's needs as designated by the child's IEP. The candidate should be able to monitor studentsâ continuous progress through data collection and observation and provide information/support and training to parents around their child's needs. The SLP shall be expected to provide training to teachers and other staff on speech and language topics. The Speech Therapist shall have a good understanding of state and federal regulations and local policies regarding children with special needs. Other expected job tasks shall be to attend staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required, maintain and establish cooperative working relationships with coworkers, Establish and maintains good communication with parents, local agencies, students, coworkers and parents concerning the progress of the students, create and follow an agreed upon schedule, and performs other tasks which may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Must be licensed or eligible to receive license according to the state requirements. Holds Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is in his/her Clinical Fellowship (CFY).
