ROLE SUMMARY The Culinary Intern will gain working knowledge, along with hands-on training, of the many different aspects of the foodservice industry through a 12-week culinary internship with Cheyenne Regional Medical Center . Works under the supervision of the Food Services Supervisor, Chef, Retail Manager and Department Director. Trains and assists in various cooking, retail, catering and food prep areas.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assists in kitchen procedures as instructed. Carries out cooking and meal preparation duties as instructed. 2. Assists with inventory control. 3. Fills in multiple food services related areas as needed. 4. Cleans and sanitizes work area, follows posted cleaning schedules, and removes trash.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Good communication and guest relations skills
- Capable of working well with others in a confined work space
- Ability to learn various food preparation, cooking and serving techniques
- Ability to learn ServSafe Standards and apply to areas of responsibility
- Ability to take direction
- Ability to read and follows recipes
- Ability to use computer programs and software
- Ability to organize workload and use effective time management
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older
- Currently enrolled in a high school or college culinary arts program
