The Controls/Service Specialist will support LONG Building Intelligence customers by! programming temperature control systems based on project specifications. Using expertise in the HVAC industry, the Controls/Service Specialist will perform installation, warranty, emergency, and maintenance service on installed systems.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Programs databases, for all supported systems, to meet specified sequences of operation and equipment manufacturers recommendations in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents
Maintain HVAC equipment including: Changing air filters, greasing bearings, recording refrigeration pressures, adjusting gas fired burners, documenting on LONG standard task sheets
Troubleshooting HVAC systems including: power wiring, unit controls, motor, blower, fan, bearing, gas heat, electric heat, refrigeration systems, economizer, VAV box, fan powered box, pneumatic controls
Uses a variety of hand tools to troubleshoot, repair and install.
Rea! ds equipment schematics and mechanical drawings.
Deve! lops and implements procedures for acceptance of completed work (i.e. checkout sheets completed and submitted and checkout procedures followed) under management review
Advises project manager regarding system deficiencies and/or customer complaints and advises appropriate building intelligence
Communicates regularly and efficiently with dispatch, project managers and engineering manager via voice mail, cell phone and email regarding dispatch, job concerns, technical matters and other issues
Performs calibration and check-out of control systems, and ensures that specified sequence of operation and commissioning obligations are met
Ensures that LONG is compensated for all work that is performed outside contractual obligations
Provides signed completed checkout documentation (i.e. checkout sheets) to the project manager, on a daily/weekly basis, for inclusion into the project manual
Instructs owner's personnel on operation ! and maintenance of temperature control systems and energy conservation routines
Prepares course outlines, course materials, and conducts training courses, at the LONG training facility, for owner representatives and internal personnel as requested by engineering manager and dispatcher
Assists the graphics coordinator and/or provide the labor and expertise for the preparation and delivery of graphical user interfaces when required for projects in accordance with LONG graphics standards and contract documents
Advises project manager regarding system deficiencies and/or customer complaints and advises appropriate Building Intelligence personnel. Also advises project managers on job status and completion of work.
Provides information to update drawings and keep records of equipment for as-built documentation (turns in all redlined drafting to application engineers)
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
2! years tech school and 3 years temperature control system start-up, che! ckout, and service experience OR 5 years temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience
Extensive knowledge of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, fire alarm and smoke removal systems, engineering, installation, and construction procedures
Solid networking and computer skills with troubleshooting and problem solving ability
Possess good leadership, communication (written and verbal), and computer skills
Valid Wyoming driverâs license
Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to include department and project managers, engineers, sales personnel, and service and control technicians
Strong customer service skills
Ability to climb ladders and function at heights, lift loads up to 40 lbs., and travel to and inspect jobsites and customer locations
Available and able to perform warranty! , after hour, emergency and maintenance service on installed systems.
